The American healthcare system is undergoing dramatic changes and improvements that center around the increasing use of technology. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 put billions of dollars toward the adoption and use of electronic medical records and electronic systems. The ability to capture, analyze, and share data is central to this new development. To lead this transformation, the Northeastern Health Informatics Graduate Program is educating professionals to combine technical understanding, an understanding of business processes, and a familiarity with clinical processes and workflows.

Experience the Online Learning Format
To meet this challenge, Northeastern University now offers the Master of Science in Health Informatics in an online format. Designed for working professionals who wish to maintain personal and professional life commitments while earning an advanced degree in this growing field, it offers maximum flexibility in scheduling as well as continuous interaction with faculty and fellow students. The advantages of the online format go beyond mere convenience: it also helps students exchange views, consult with faculty, and work together on an ongoing basis, giving them greater freedom to shape their own learning experience. The program also benefits from Northeastern’s substantial experience in delivering high-quality education online.

Program Expertise
Expanded from the successful on-campus version of the program, the online Master of Science in Health Informatics addresses the critical shortage in health informatics professionals in New England and the nation. The interdisciplinary program brings together the expertise of Northeastern’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences and the College of Computer and Information Science to educate future leaders in Health Informatics. Our students come together from backgrounds in healthcare or technology to exchange ideas and learn from faculty and each other. Program faculty are all senior leaders in the field who bring both academic rigor and real-world learning to the classroom.

“This program has excellent faculty with advanced healthcare information technology industry knowledge and is associated with reputed healthcare organizations. There is a huge growth opportunity in this industry. Shortage of HIT professionals is one of the most important driver to secure your future with this program.”
